Mr. Jackson was born on May 5, 1933, in Dublin to the late Dent Jackson, Sr., and Donnie Wells Jackson. He departed this life on October 22 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as Private First Class. He was also a loyal employee of the Veterans Administration Center in Dublin. He was preceded in death by one brother, Levi “Buddy” Jackson and three sisters, Annie “Punie” Jackson Lane, Alberta Edmond and Frances Jackson. Mr. Jackson’s brother Edward Jackson also departed this life one week after his death on October 29.
Funeral services for Mrs. on Monday, October 31, 2011 in Cochran First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Carnley officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.
Mrs. Bumpus was born in Bibb County, the daughter of the late Allen W. Bryant and Mary Frances Sapp Bryant. She was the widow of Henry W. Bumpus. and a member of Cochran First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Jayenelle B. Smith of Cochran; special friend, Emma Moffitt of Dublin; several nieces nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Dennis, Sr., 63, will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 2 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church of Montrose. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Doyle Lane will officiate.
Mr. Dennis, who passed on October 16, was the son of the late Arthur Walker and Nellie M. White. He became a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age where he served as an Usher. He was employed with Gilman Paper Company in Dudley for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his wife; Ethel M. Dennis, grandmother; Anna Ashley, grandfather; Izell Dennis, stepfather, Willie B. White, Sr.; aunt, Zelda Taylor; uncle, C. B. Ashley; and sister in law, Mattie Ruth Mack.
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Lee Brown, Sr, will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 1 PM at the C D Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home with the Reverend William Basby officiating.
Mr. Brown departed this life on October 9, 2011, and was born January 29, 1968. He was a graduate of Bleckley County High School where he was involved in football and track, and he also won several awards. He was a member of St. Peters Baptist Church where he severd on the Ushers Misistry. He was employed by Hy Tek Rations where he was a dedicated employee.
Mr. Brown was preceeded in death by his brother Nevin Brown; his uncle, Edward Pitts; and his aunt, Flossie Nedd.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Stephanie R. Thomas, 39 will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1PM at Dublin High School Auditorium. Rev. Elgin Dixon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas passed away on October 19, 2011. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ola Palmer, Christine Palmer, Elizabeth Salter, Vonnie Hayward, Curtis L. Salter; father in law, Robert E. Thomas, Sr.; uncles, Alton and Midas Salter, Carlton Cummings and brother in law, Roderick T. Thomas.
Mrs. Thomas attended and graduated from East Laurens High School. She was also a graduate of Middle Georgia College where she received her Bachelors Degree; she received her Masters at Troy State and Specialist Degree from Nova Southeastern College. Stephanie taught at Tennille Elementary and was presently a teacher at Susie Dasher Elementary and Brewton Parker College.
Funeral service for Mrs. Theola Burns, 63, will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 11:30 AM at the Everlasting Gospel Church at 1300 South Jefferson Street in Dublin. Bishop T. L. Snell, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Macon.
She who passed on October 18, 2011 was born in Wrightsville, to the parentage of the late Willie Q. and Ola B. Snell. She graduated from Northeast High School in Macon. She married Ernest T. Stanley in 1971. From this union, five children were born. She served as missionary for 16 years at Body of Christ Holiness Church in Wayside, Georgia She later relocated to Dublin where she spent the rest of her life preaching and praying for the Lord’s people. She also served as the State’s Evangelist in the Bibleway Church of God In Christ Ministries, Inc. for over 20 years.
